SuperConductor works best on setups with low network latency and low audio latency. Below are some steps you can take to improve your experience.
SuperConductor requires a modern web browser. Please ensure you are running a recent version of a supported browser. WebRTC is needed to establish connections to other users. Depending on your internet setup and ISP you may have issues with WebRTC in general. If you are behind a firewall or VPN make sure that ports 21473 and 21474 are open.
SuperConductor works best when you are able to establish a direct peer-to-peer connection to the other users. However this may not always be possible, especially if you are behind a corporate firewall or using mobile internet, i.e. tethering from your phone or connecting to the internet from a 3G/LTE/5G mobile internet dongle. In such cases the fallback solution requires using an intermediary relay between you and the other users. This usually results in additional network latency.
The other user may be having connection issues. Otherwise, you may be unable to establish a direct WebRTC connection to the other user. Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists please report it to support@magnopere.ca.
Ensure that you have followed the recommendations in the Optimizations section. MIDI routing and external software synthesizers can create significant audio latency. Use only built-in instruments for best experience. Additionally check the network latency to other players in their user panel. SuperConductor works best with network latency under 50 ms. SuperConductor may not work properly with network latency consistently above 150 ms.
Lag spikes in the network connection can cause another user's notes to be received late or dropped. Notes that are received late can cause audible clicks or momentary audio distortions in the sound output.
Users who join a room where a play mode session is in progress may be missing some information. To circumvent this, ensure that all users are present before starting a play mode session, and restart from the Song Select step if a new user joins the room.
This can happen when the note off event for releasing the note is not received due to network issues. If it becomes an annoyance press the ESC key on your keyboard to momentarily turn off all sound sources.
